Charlie Hall walked into the library, admiring the gleaming wooden bookshelves, and the mahogney tables spread through out the room. Charlie was never a big reader, but her parents had a private library twice this size. Sometimes Charlie would grab a book and try to get away from the world for a while. Of course, mostly she just did that by shopping. Charlie pulled out a book that had obviosly never been loaned out, she could tell by the dust and how it was hidden in the back of thee library, where someone out it between a book about cells and a book about more cells. She carefully flipped the pages and smiled. It was about a rich girl who was kept in secret her entire life. Finally the wild child ran away to the zoo and met the boy of her dreams, the zookeeper. Charlie laughed softly, and decided to check the book out. She walked up to the Librarian and smiled."I'd like to check this book out please?" The librarian looked a little surprised at the book, then smiled. "Certainly." As she was scanning my ID card, I could feel people staring at me. I turned around, and they all quickly averted their eyes back to their books. I pushed back my silky black hair and wondered why everyone was looking at me. Someone tapped me on my shoulder and I turned around, half smiling. TAGGED?! Open OUTFIT?! later WORD COUNT?! 237 NOTES?! nerp CREDIT?! By JINX?! of Caution 2.0

CASSIE CAVANAUGH She wasn't sure how but some how, during that first week of school, she had already gotten slammed with a lot of homework. Cassie didn't know how teachers functioned with their lives knowing the homework load that they gave out to their poor students. All of this work managed to keep her from trying to socialize with Amelia Williams who she had met earlier in the week at the barn. Cassie was determine to fit in, and she figured that the redhead would have been her best bet, not to mention, she was really nice. But it also kept her from the barn and working with Starlight, he was having some issues with stadium jumps and Cassie was beginning to think that they might just have to start with cross rails all over again. A sigh escaped her at the thought as she loaded another book onto her pile for Biology.
Science was her least favorite class, she understood it well enough but it just didn't keep her engage. Nothing ever really did, Cassie's thoughts laid with Starlight and trying to fit into Canterwood's society. But she couldn't let it distract her this much, after all, her father was paying for this school while he was still away serving with the Navy, he was giving her a chance to not have to move around all the time any more and she didn't want to blow that either. There was just so many things that consumed her life right now that if Cassie had realized how complicated this would have been then she might have just opted to stay with her dad til college.
Suddenly though, Cassie realized that she wasn't alone in the Bio section of the library. Glancing over, she saw a girl, another pretty girl that Canterwood had no shortage of, looking over some books. Hazel eyes just watched the girl for a moment, but her long hair really framed and hid her face from anything that she would have realized. A small laugh escaped the girl and she turned. Quickly, Cassie returned her attention back to the books in front of her now, hoping that the girl hadn't realized that she had been watching her. As the girl passed her, Cassie watched her leave and head towards circulation. Just then, a small piece of paper fell, slipping out of the girl's wristlet. When nobody made a move to grab it, their attention focused on the girl, Cassie went over, crouched down, and picked it up.
Holding onto the paper now, as well as her stack of books, she walked over towards the circulation desk where the girl stood. 'Be brave, Cassie', she told herself as she moved closer and tapped the girl on the shoulder. When she turned around quickly, already Cassie felt herself tense up even though the girl was smiling at her, "I...um, you dropped this," she managed now, holding out the piece of paper.

I turned an Charlie silently took it from her, and glanced at the slip of paper. She giggled softly, her voice light but carrying meaning behind it. "Oh, this is just ALL my homework for the day." She laughed, her voice a touch louder. She straightened her dark denim pencil skirt and looked at the girl. "I'm Charlie." She said, offering her hand. As she did, she noticed the stares at not stopped. Charlie felt odd, is this how they treated all the new students? Her hazel eyes flitted around the room, landing on nobody in particular, but they all tried to catch her eye. Charlie, feeling uncomfortable, turned back to the girl for her answer. TAGGED?! CASSIE CAVANAUGH The girl said nothing to her at first and Cassie wondered if she had made an mistake, but soon she took the paper from her. It wasn't long though before a quiet giggle escaped the girl though and Cassie thought she could breath a sigh of relief. Automatically relaxing and not feeling quite as nervous as before, but the butterflies were still there. Of course, she was like this with everyone so it's not as if this was anything new to her. When she stated it was just all of her homework, Cassie laughed, "Oh well, I don't really know if that's a good thing or a bad thing then that I gave that back to you." The girl was very fashion forward, much like the rest of Canterwood Crest, so she was certain that this girl would have no problem fitting in.
"Um, Cassie," she replied back now, "And it's nice to meet you Charlie." Hazel eyes glanced down at Charlie's hand which she had offered out in a hand shake. After a moment, Cassie decided that it was okay to take it and gently shook it before letting go. The girl's attention seemed somewhere else though and Cassie glanced over her shoulder, back towards the others studying in the library. They were all staring, the guys trying to catch her eye and the girls studying her. Cassie was new herself but she didn't get that sort of attention when she had arrived a week earlier unless running into Amelia Williams counted, "They must think you're pretty," she offered now, trying to sound brave and knowing what she was talking about.

CASSIE CAVANAUGH She simply smiled and shook her head at Cassie's comment. If it weren't for the smile, Cassie thought that she might have said something wrong. Charlie's question made her furrow her eyebrows a little, there was nobody else around, it couldn't be anybody else. Unless she was joking, 'Stop it Cassie, stop analyzing everything,' she thought to herself. It was shocking that the girl wasn't a mess yet from her first week in Canterwood, but maybe she was only just getting by, "Um, yes you," Cassie managed now, smiling as the dark haired girl just kept on laughing. The silence was still there but it was slowly starting to grow back to the regular hushed chatter that it usually was.
"What? Oh...from," Cassie said now, biting her lip and trying to think of something sensible. Although, being a navy brat, she never really had much of a real home other than Hawaii, and that was when she was young. Should she lie? She didn't want to be a freak, but what if it got found out? Then would that be even worse. Sheer panic was starting to flood her brain before she managed to get an answer out, "Hawaii. I'm from Hawaii originally." It was shocking that Cassie hadn't even stammered during that. When Charlie motioned for her to sit down with her though, Cassie felt her eyes widen like a deer in the headlights, "You...you want me to sit with you?"

Charlie raised an eyebrow at the girl. "Yeah, how else would we become friends." Charlie laughed, blinking her eyes at the girl. She was trying to make her feel comfortable. Charlie straightened a button on her sandy blouse and smiled, flasginh a set of white teeth. "Hawaii! I visited there when I was a kid. Its GORGEOUS." Charlie enthused, crossing her hands. "I used to surf there when I was little." Charlie said, smiling. "I'm from L.A, but I've lived in Paris and New york."

CASSIE CAVANAUGH Cassie watched how the other girl raised her eyebrows and she wondered if she had said something stupid, "Yeah, how else would we become friends?" Charlie asked with a laugh. Well, she felt dumbstruck after that. Cassie could feel her embarrassment growing by the minute, and color coming to her face, "You want to be my friend?" she asked now, trying to keep the excitement out of her voice. The concept seemed so foreign to Cassie, maybe because she normally only regarded Starlight as her friend, but she knew that had to change, horses couldn't talk. After a hesitant moment, she followed Charlie to her table now and slid into a seat across from her, placing her books down.
The mentioning of Hawaii brought a flashy grin to Charlie's face, but it was something that Cassie was quite used to. Everybody always thought Hawaii was a nice place, and generally it was minus the fact that one was closed off from the world. Offering a shy smile, the young girl nodded in agreement, "It is quite nice. I liked it a lot," and it was so different from here. Charlie continued on talking and Cassie listened in interest, "L.A.?" Not to mention, Paris and New York, she had been all over the world, "Well...I guess we're both far away from home here on the East Coast. But that's amazing. What's Paris like?"

CASSIE CAVANAUGH Well, it seemed to Cassie that she had successfully asked the right question. Already she noticed Charlie get a dreamy expression on her face, a twinkling in the eye. Cassie assumed that her thoughts were going back to the life style of Paris. Who wouldn't though? Even though it was a first world country, Cassie still thought the whole thing to be exotic. What she would give to walk around Paris for the night, see the Eiffel Tower and all of the lights. Of course, there were a number of things that Cassie thought about doing, but only if she had her dad around. Offering a smile now, a slight laugh escaped her, "I could only imagine," she replied now. But there was also another question going on in her mind. Whether she could ask it or not was an entirely different question, but Charlie seemed nice, "Um...if you lived in these wonderful places, why did you end up in Canterwood? I mean...this seems very different from New York and Paris."
