[/style][style=text-align: right; font-family: courier new; color: #551033; font-size: 16pt; line-height: 12pt;]Trying out! Hello! for any riders who have yet to be placed on a riding team, this is for you! There seems to be a couple of you so I felt this post needed to be done.
Judging Your try outs will just judges on things like grammar, neatest, it should be a reasonable length, (no one liners.) and accuracy. I'm not saying you can't have perfect rides. NO ONE LIKES MARY-SUE/GARY-STU POSTS.
What to post Your try out should have your character and horse riding at the, walk, trot, and canter (in all directions.) Also doing two flying lead changes in a figure-8 pattern (change in the middle.) Then for jumping four jumps are set up and acceding hight. (lowest about 2ft highest 3ft) You must jump the four jumps and then go back around and jump them backwards.
Where To be placed on a team please send the try out to me though personal messages that way it is guaranteed I see the post, I will sending you back a reply on what team you would like. But if you want you may post it for everyone to see, I just will be judging the copy you send to me. In the world of canterwood the try out is held in the indoor arena with Mr. Connor.
Keep in mind. If you do not get the team you like, I am sorry but this isn't your last chance for the team you wanted, work on your writing skills and then ask if you can attempt again.
Help Once again I am here for help if you need any on your tryout ask me anything! also please be sure to send them to me (pm: izzynutty)

EXAMPLE [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, width: 400px; background-color: #330011; padding:20px; border-top: 10px #aa0033 solid; border-bottom: 10px #aa0033 solid;] I'll wear that dress if you wear that tie ( WORDS ) 817 ( TAGGED ) N/A ( STATUS ) COMPLETE I entered the large sun lit arena. My eye's gazed over the whole arena until they made eye contact with Mr. Connor who was stationed casually on one of the mounting blocks. I smiled at him and walked stereo over in his direction. "I will call out ordered during the durration of your try out, make sure you are ready, good luck." I gave him a nervous nod and turned to Stereo. I pulled his reins over his head and walked to the saddle, putting my leg into the saddle I gave a big push and swung into the saddle, not so gracefully. squeezed Stereo's sides and he started to walk to the edge of the arena. Mr. Conner called out the first command, a posting trot. I squeezed Stereos sides once again, he did a few lazy dragged steps at the trot before I got him together in a solid trot. After a few sitting beats I started to post on beat. We went around the arena once before Mr. Conner called out the next command, a slow canter. I sat back in the saddle and used my legs to cue Stereo into a canter. Excited, Stereo jumped into a canter, throwing me off balance. I jerked on the reins a bit but then relaxed and collected Stereo and myself. Way to blow it Isabel. I thought to myself. He would defiantly look down on that. After a tap around the arena Mr. Conner told me to do a lead change across the diagonal. When we got to the proper corner I turned Stereo and we started across the diagonal. Near the center I cued Stereo to do a lead change. Like he had when we started cantering he did a bit of a jump to do the lead change, this time I stayed more relaxed since I knew how to handel it. once we had gone around the arena one last time we came to a walk and then a halt. I looked over at Mr. Conner who smiled back at me. He then pointed at the four jumped he had set up in the arena. and said, "Take them clockwise and then turn around and do the couter clockwise, they go to around three feet in high at the highest." I nodded, I wasn't really into the talking mood, I was worried if I spoke I would throw up or something. Trying to shake my nerves off I collected my reins again and asked Stereo to walk. I turned him in a circle and then asked him to pick up a canter from his walk. He did a smoother transition then he had done before. I finished the large circle and I started to turn Stereo towards the first jump, a simple vertical no higher then 2'3" I tightened my reins a bit as we got to the jump, I gave him a small squeeze to keep him thinking. Once we got to the jump I squeezed him again as well as move my arms put on his neck and got up into my jumping postion. We cleared the jump with ease and I collected Stereo after with no problems, the next jump, a square oxer at the hight of about 2'6". Stereo had never been fond of square oxers, and I didn't blame him. As we got closer his ears perked up and I knew he was thinking about bailing out. I gave his a reassuring squeeze and I could feel hi relax a bit. Once we got to the jump Stereo jumped over it, with little to no grace, he poped up throwing me off balance, and we both kind of landed hard. I sighed a bit and patted him as we cantered off from the fence. The next jump a 2'9" vertical was both easily took and same goes for the 3ft vertical after. Once we had finished clock wise I made a large circle and turned Stereo to the 3ft vertical we had just taken, this time we took it backwards. As we got the jump, I did a small squeeze to make Stereo listen. Once we got to the jump we took it just as we had done before. This time Stereo took the course with much more forwardness used to the course and not being as spooky before. We approached the final jump and all the nerves in my whole body drifted off and we neared the small fence. Stereo's strides lengthen so I brought him down to collect, we got to the jump and Stereo paused for a moment then poped over the small obstacle. I fell a bit forward at the sudden off balance nature of the way he took the jump. I sighed with disappointment but brought him to a walk with a smile. I patted his neck and dismounted, after Mr. Conner dismissed me.

Name:Sasha Gold Horse:Charmy Grade:8th I walked into the arena wearing a purple show shirt, white breeches, and new caramel show boots. I walked Charmy to the center of the arena. I walked him against the wall in all directions. I trotted against the wall in all directions then to a canter. I did flying lead changes in a figure-8 pattern in the middle twice. I led Charmy into to circles that kept getting smaller and smaller to calm him down. I trotted Charmy toward one of the jumps. He landed softly on the other side. I collected him before the next jump and knees didn't even come close to touching the rail. At the next jump Charmy got detracted. He knocked one rail down. My face went pink. I collected him at the last jump and he did well. We did it again backwards. Charmy was mixed up,but I made him through it. He was an angel through the rest of the tryout. I knew that we could make the team. Attachments:

You write about them, like in the book when they say something like "Charm trotted around the arena"

izzyName:Vanessa Stewart Grade:10th Horse:Sky I entered the indoor arena wearing a pink show shirt tee and white breeches. I taped my charcoal black paddock boots against Whitney. I trotted her in front of Mr.Conner. "Do a walk, trot, and canter in all directions." I looked at him unbelievable. I turned Whitney around and in a circle that got kept getting smaller. I knocked my heels against her sides asking for a walk. I walked her against the wall. At the end of the arena,I turned her around and did it the other way. I looked ahead saw we passed the end. I looked up at Mr.Conner and blushed. I tightened the reins on Whitney and pulled her to a trot. I sat deep in the saddle and sat up straighter. I turned Whitney around and kept at a trot till the end. I squeezed my legs against Sky and pulled her to a canter. I looked at Mr.Conner seeing a glint of satisfied look in his eye. I looked away and saw Whitney side stepped. I pulled her gently back in place and kept her head up. I turned her around at the end and did it again. I could here her hooves pounding in a pattern. When I was so busy hearing it, I looked up and saw we passed Mr.Conner. I looked up confused. I thought I must've don it one more time around. I blushed. I pulled Whitney up to Mr.Conner."Please do two flying lead changes in a figure 8-pattern twice in the middle." I pulled Sky around and headed toward the middle. I sat deep in the saddle and pulled the reins to keep Whitney's head up. She shook her head excited. I did in the middle flying lead changes in a figure 8-pattern. I turned around and did it twice. I looked at Sky realizing she was sweating. I cooled her down a little. I headed for four jumps listening to Mr.Conner. I counted the strides and squeezed my legs against her. I rose a little out the saddle and sat deep in the seat. I looked ahead. 1,2,3 NOW! I didn't lift out the saddle, but WSkyy knocked 1 rail down. My face was red pink. I looked at the third jump determined. I didn't count strides, this time. I tightened the reins and sat deeper in the saddle. I squeezed my heels and we flew across and landed without a sound. I cleared my mind and jumped the last one with ease. I turned around and jumped backwards. I knew Whitney and I practiced backwards, she didn't have a problem. I counted strides backwards. 5,4,3,2,1 NOW! I rose out of the saddle, but regained my seat before Mr.Conner saw. I headed for the second one and she jumped it without a problem. I trotted toward the third, listening to her hooves pounding. I squeezed my legs, taking off to late. She knocked one rail and saw a rail wiggled, but stayed in place. I sighed in satisfaction. I squeezed my legs at the right time and she landed hard. Her hooves wiggled. I looked at her worried. I exited the arena proud we did a tryout.

I walked Hope into the arena with her gleaming new white saddle pad . I was wearing my white breeches and black polo shirt . Hope's black coat gleamed because I just took about 20 minutes grooming her to perfection. I mounted Hope with a little bounce in the ground and landed softly in the saddle . I began at a walk around the arena . Even at a walk hope's muscles flexed and it made her look even better. After a lap of walk one way I reversed direction and walked another lap the other way .
After the final lap of walk I moved hope into a smooth trot . Hope knew the drill and trotted very obediently . I reversed direction at a trot and headed the other way . I passed a window and saw a horse and rider practicing in one if the outdoor arenas . I tightened my legs against hope's sides and she leaped into nice collected canter . But she was on the wrong lead . My face flushed red and I pulled her back to a trot and ask for a canter again . There she was in the right lead now . We glided around the arena one lap then reversed . We glided around the arena the opposite way for a lap . I opened my rein and asked her to turn and do a figure eight . Hope did so and in the middle I asked for a flying lead change . After hope's amazing flying lead change I slowed down to a walk and looked over the four jumps I was about to jump.
I pointed Hope at the first jump and heeled her forward . As we cantered to the first jump I counted down the strides in my head and at just the right moment I lifted my body out of the saddle and we cleared the jump . After the three other jumps here came the last one . I counted down the strides and lifted in the saddle but hope's hoof nicked the rail a little . As we landed softly on the other side of the jump I looked back to see if it had fallen , and it hadn't . I made a loop around and started the course in reverse . We took the first jump with ease and same with the second but we had nicked the third jump's rail . Hope had lost some of her confidence but I rode her well enough that I got her cleanly over the last jump . I returned to the centre if the arena and patted hope's sweaty neck telling her she was a good girl .

I lead Alida into the indoor arena where we were going to test for a riding team. Ali's strawberry coat was glimming from the hours of grooming. I greeted Mr. Conner and mounted easily on. "You can start with walk." Mr. Conner said. I did as he told me and started to walk. Her stride was smooth and I could feel every movement. "Change directions please." Mr. Conner instructed me after I had completed a lap. I opened the outside rein and Ali bended and changed directions. I walked that way for a lap befor Mr. Conner asked me for a trot. I did a rising trot and rose when her outside leg was up and went down when it's was down, I did that for another lap. "Canter please." Said mr. Conner. I squeezed me legs against Ali's sides and she leaped forward into a canter. She was never really good at getting the right lead so I was worried she would be on the wrong lead. I checked her and she was! My face burned with embarrassment and brought her back down to a trot and asked again. Thankfully, this time she was on the right lead. I reversed direction and sailed around the arena for another lap. Mr. Conner told me to walk and stop in the middle. "You are now going to go over there and jump that course, and then jump it in reverse." Mr. Conner said while pointing to the jump course that the grooms where setting up. It didn't take them very long and in no time the course was ready. "You can start when your ready." said Mr. Conner. I circled Ali at a canter before approaching the fist jump. I counted the strides in my head as we neared I rose in the saddle at just the right time and we cleared it. The second jump was fast approaching. But we cleared that one with ease too. Ali lost her attention for a split second while we where drawing near the third jump. She took off a split second too late but she tucked her legs under her body more. With a sigh of relief we landed with the jump still standing behind us. The last jump was a piece of cake. After we landed I let Ali go about 6 strides before circling her to jump the course again the opposite way. As we jumped he last jump again I saw the red and white rails flash under us. The rest of the course we toke with ease. I slowed to a walk to cool Ali out. "Now, to finish your testing you can perform a figure eight with a flying lead change in the middle." Mr. Conner said as he was noting something down on his clipboard. I trotted to the opposite side of the arena again and did the first bend of the figure eight at a canter. In the middle I switched leg aids and Ali leapt up and switched leads in the air. As we landed and finished the other bend of the eight, I beamed with pride. Ali had never really been good with dressage moves, but today she proved me wrong. Now if only she would perform like that at the shows. "Thank you Ms. Smith, you did a wonderful job." Said Mr. Conner after he wrote the last notes on my report clipped securely in his clipboard. I smiled even bigger, I had heard kids saying how rare a compliment from Mr. Conner was. I patted Ali, I unmounted and lead her out of the arena and gave her a hug once the door closed behind us. I was pretty content about our ride, I was very exited about what his decision would be..
