CASSIE CAVANAUGH She had gotten a call from Mike, telling her that Starlight had managed to slip out of the paddock some how. Cassie didn't want to to think about how her horse had managed to do that, whether he jumped the fence or managed to unlatch the door, or just followed a horse out, she didn't want to hear it or think about it. Even though they had been at Canterwood for a while now, her horse was proving to be just as playful as ever, but even worse, he was still proving to be the most difficult animal ever when it came to jumping. Cassie was beginning to wonder if it had been a mistake, putting her on the advance team, but thinking about it wasn't going to change her situation.
Even though it had only been November, the rains had been particularly heavy for the fall. It was even stranger because this had been New England, not Washington State. For now though, Cassie believed that this might have been the least of her problems. She was still for the most part, friendless. Sure, she made acquaintances but they seemed to have their own lives away from her. Not that Cassie could blame them for such things, and then all around the school, there seemed to be ragging gossip going on about ploys to be queen of the school and some nasty confrontations about it. Girls were dangerous, Girl World made it even worse.
Upon entering the stables though, Cassie decided to push those thoughts out of her head. She tended to believe that each time she went through a door, problems were left behind. After all, they weren't even her problems, not really, just the lacking of friends part. Maybe she could just go on for three more years though without them, Starlight could be her only friend and make college her new start. Then again, maybe not. Her thoughts came to an abrupt halt though when she got to her horse's stall, "Oh my god, Starlight!" If her horse was a paint, nobody could tell. It was the dirtiest she had even seen him, caked in mud and dirt, and even saw dust, he looked like a brown horse rather than the paint.
He whinnied his hello, ears perked forward and clearly glad to see her, Cassie wasn't so sure now after this mess. Sighing, she knew this was going to take a while, "Let's attempt to get you clean," she said now. Good thing there weren't any shows or she would be in big trouble. With no use for baths though with temperatures dropping though, Cassie realized it would probably take a miracle for the white in Starlight's coat to get back to how it was. Sighing, she threw on his halter and lead rope and lead him to the cross ties. Attaching the halter to them, she left him for a moment and went into the tack room to grab her grooming supplies before returning to her horse. Glancing over him one more time, a sigh escaped Cassie as she started to use to the curry comb to uproot the dirt.

Sammie blinked, taking in the bright, almost silky yellow sunlight that drowned her when she stepped out of Orchard, her long-time dorm since she'd arrived at Canterwood. Thoughts swam through her head and banged loudly on her skull. She sighed, stepping lightly, trying to dodge the crowds of people that called her name and tried to say hi. She was glad she'd turned her iPhone 5 onto silence, because she knew she was getting about 10 texts a minute from desperate wanna-be's that she really didn't care too much about at the moment. She knew she looked pretty, but she also knew that she could have worked harder on her outfit and her makeup- it was simple, unlike her usually gorgeous, chic, model-like outfits that the whole school admired her for. Today, she wore skinny pink sweat pants from Aero Postale and a black, shiny leather jacket, zipped up completely. Her platinum blond, soft hair with a slightly golden tint was in a neat braid down her back and her makeup, though minimal, was very pretty. With a swipe of Banana Coconut lip gloss and Mine mascara, a touch of foundation, spread widely to give her face an airbrushed, gorgeous look. She had been a zombie this morning, but she had to look pretty even so. Sammie was heading to the stables, Midnight, her black Thoroughbred ex-racehorse, in mind. He always made her smile, no matter what, so she thought she'd go over and groom him. She hoped that the stable would be empty like it always is on Sunday morning, but she had a feeling it wouldn't be completely empty since there were some upcoming shows. When she got to the stable, having managed to avoid pretty much all of her followers as Queen Bee, she was glad. "Hey, hot stuff." She said as she opened Midnight's stall and scanned it. The bedding was fresh, there was hay in the net and his forest green bucket from Poland was filled to the brim with cold, fresh water. Mike or Doug had definitely been here! Sammie was just beginning to groom her gelding when she heard some footsteps, and then a sigh. She closed her eyes for a second, why did someone else have to be here now? She stood on her tippy-toes so that she could see who it was. Brown hair, pale skin. Sammie had never even seen the girl before, but her horse was almost as pretty as Midnight, and that was saying something. tags ♥ Cassie outfit ♥ credits ♥ r o s e please read everything, tanx so uhm, steal and she'll strangle you. don't remove her credits either. haha.

CASSIE CAVANAUGH Cassie had been slaving away on her horse too much to even notice that they were being watched at the moment. She bit down on her lower lip as she continued to move the curry comb in hard circular motions. Bit by bit, crusty mud and dirt began to loosen itself from Starlight's coat, the white and palomino splotches starting to come through. It was certainly something that made her smile, perhaps this grooming duty wouldn't be as rough as she thought it would be, or at least not take the two to three hours that she thought it might take in her head. Starlight turned his head as much as he could in the cross ties, watching something.
It took a moment before Cassie even caught on that her horse's attention was else where. Glancing at him, she soon followed his gaze to notice that he was eyeing up one of the stalls, and it wasn't long before she discovered someone was watching them. The stall read 'Midnight', and she could see the big black Thoroughbred inside. He looked like a rather gorgeous horse, just like his rider, who oddly enough, Cassie knew. Visually at least. It was Samantha Ledger. She had never met the girl personally, but she knew well enough that this was one of the girls who ruled Canterwood Crest. After what seemed like forever though, Cassie finally managed to find her voice, "Uh, sorry, um, did you want us to move?" after all, for all she knew, they could very well be blocking the girl's way or something.

Sammie noticed that the girl had obviously caught on to her staring at her. Sammie smiled brightly, tossing her platinum blond hair and scurrying around Midnight so that she could see the girl better. She scanned the girl's outfit, hair and horse. Pretty, seemingly. "No, no, it's fine." She paused to tilt her head to that her soft blond hair slid down her arm. "You have a gorgeous horse." She said, a grin on her clear, perfect face. The girl seemed nice, well, nice enough to ask if Sammie wanted her and her horse to move. But she was nervous, well, that's how it seemed. Sammie usually had that affect. She had to admit, she can be really mean, but usually she doesn't judge right away, which was always a good thing. Sammie looked at the girl, waiting for her to reply to her rare compliment. Sammie tucked a strand of blond hair behind her ear, and giggled when she felt Midnight rest his chin on her shoulder lightly, examining his potential new horsie friend. Midnight can be very judgy, just like Sammie, but he was always open to new friends! tags ♥ Cassie outfit ♥ credits ♥ r o s e please read everything, tanx so uhm, steal and she'll strangle you. don't remove her credits either. haha.

CASSIE CAVANAUGH Cassie wasn't sure as to what she had been expecting from the other girl, but the bright smile had not be it. Although, she knew that she shouldn't be complaining, after all, Cassie knew it was best to remain on everybody's good side for the next three years if she was going to survive any of this high school business. For a moment though, she felt as if she were being watched like a hawk, or looked over to see if she would pass for any social event. When she told her it was fine, Cassie managed to hold back her sigh of relief, "Okay," she managed now as she turned her attention back to Starlight to work on his coat again.
"You have a gorgeous horse," Sammie Leger commented now, and it certainly through her for a loop. She paused in her scrubbing for a moment and took a step back, glancing over Starlight with his stalking frame and palomino pinto coloration. After a moment though, she turned back towards the blonde, "Oh, thanks," she said cheerfuly enough, glancing at the big black horse that was in the stall with her, resting his chin on his owner's shoulder now as liquid eyes rested on the other horse. Starlight himself was also watching the other horse with mild curiosity, "You're horse is beautiful as well...He's a thoroughbred, right?" And by the looks of it, he came with papers as well. With a horse like that though, it was to believe that he'd be anywhere without them.

Sammie smiled lightly at her, and tilted her head, nodding. She glanced at Midnight. "Yeah, he's on off-the-track Thoroughbred mix." She told Cassie. Midnight had raced for a year, but had an injury and had to be sold. She was so glad. He was a beautiful horse and though she always got offers to purchase him, she always declined. He was her best friend. Her everything. "So, are you new?" She asked Cassie, hoping she was correct. tags ♥ Cassie outfit ♥ credits ♥ r o s e please read everything, tanx so uhm, steal and she'll strangle you. don't remove her credits either. haha.

CASSIE CAVANAUGH Well, she had guessed right about the horse and that was always nice. Cassie supposed all of those days of studied the horse books had finally paid off. Her eyes glanced towards the big black horse again, who seemed to be enjoying the attention that his owner was giving him at the moment. The whole thing made her smile though, it was nice to see a horse and owner have such a strong bond, she was certain that it probably carried out onto into the field and competition ring as well. While Cassie had never seen this girl ride before though, she was certain that she was on one of the teams. It only made sense, that was the main reason for coming to Canterwood in the first place, right?
Sammie's question broke her out of her thoughts though and Cassie glanced over, "Oh, yeah, I am," she said with a smile, "But I mean...I'm new to this whole school thing as well. I was home schooled all my life until now," and she still didn't entirely know how she felt about it. Cassie had yet to really make any real connections. The only bond that she had been building was her's and Starlight's, other than that it was just, well nothing really. Cassie could only hope that Sammie didn't think she was looking for friends just because of a social status thing, not that she even said anything about that, "But um, yeah. My dad's in the navy so...lot's of moving around. I didn't even get Starlight til I came here, he's been in Australia his whole life til now."

the girl seemed lost in thought for a moment. sammie totes respected that, as it often did happen to her. sammie was just putting away midnight's grooming kit when the girl answered her question. she told sammie that she was and that they move a lot since her father was in the navy. sammie felt a surge of sympathy for the girl, but then felt the flow of tears that she had to work hard to stop. her father had been a navy seal when he'd died. she sighed, hoping she could bring up a new subject. she put on her best smile for the girl. 'so, are you on any teams here?' she asked. the question seemed innocent enough, and it wouldn't get her thinking about her late father.

CASSIE CAVANAUGH For a moment, Cassie thought the other girl might have been welling up in tears, and she wondered if she had said something terribly wrong. It could always be possible that she did, after all, Cassie was still very new to talking to other students. Being home schooled, the young girl had only had her teacher to rely on for conversation, or the very short friendships that she had for each of her dad's placements. But here, it was a completely new thing and she could only hope that she had not just stepped on Sammie's toes in anyway. Even though Cassie didn't really know it, this blonde girl seemed like the type of girl that she didn't want to get on the wrong side of. Before she could ask her what was wrong though, Sammie was quick to change the topic.
Hazel eyes stared at her, puzzled as ever but decided that this might be one of those times were it was best to keep her curiosity to herself. The mentioning of teams gave her own sort of uneasiness, but she was rather good at hiding it now. Her gaze floated to Starlight for a moment, who was still curiously reguarding the other horse before Cassie glanced back to Sammie now and offered a smile, "Um, yeah. We're on the Advance team, not sure how we made it though," she said with a laugh, every error in that try out playing out in the back of her mind, "But I hear they're possibly re-doing tryouts again, so, I guess we'll see. Are you on a team yourself?" Cassie asked now, but automatically felt foolish about it, with a horse such as Midnight, it was rather childish to believe that she wasn't.

sammie grinned at cassie's question. she loved talking about anything horse-related. she was horse crazy. though lately, she'd been so overwhelmed with the trio, schoolwork and friends that she hadn't had much time to practice apart from her lessons. she turned to cassie and smiled a little. 'yes! we're on the advanced team as well.' she paused to raise an eyebrow. 'hopefully not for long. i want to make the yent by new years.' she told cassie, the corner of her mouth curling up. she patted midnight's shoulder. 'so, what's starlight's speciality?' she asks. her and midnight's was showjumping, though sammie excelled at pretty much everything apart from expert dressage. midnight was feisty and though possible, it was difficult to get him to look pretty and swift while keeping him held back, though he is a gorgeous horse and looks good doing anything.
