CASSIE CAVANAUGH
Seeing the grin on Sammie's lips made the young girl relax a little bit, it appeared that her question was relatively safe compared to the dangerous ground that Cassie feared that they had been entering. She wasn't even sure why that was, but she could sense it well enough. When she explained that she was on the advance team as well, she nodded her head. Sammie must be a really good rider then, after all, that why the highest that a student could place in right off the bat when they got to school. Cassie always thought it was an impressive feat in any of her classmates, maybe she should try and see if she could watch her and Midnight ride some time, maybe even get a few pointers, "You want to make it onto YENT by new years?" Cassie asked now, trying to keep the awe out of her voice.
She could never imagine trying out for YENT, something about it just seemed incredibly daunting, and she wasn't as ambitious as some of the other riders here, "Well, good luck then. I hope you make it." Actually, she probably would. Cassie found it very hard to believe that those four covenanted spots on YENT would actually go to anybody below the advance class placement. While Cassie didn't really know too much about Sammie Ledger specifically, she was certain that she would carry the YENT title with pride, and that was what was needed. Her question about Starlight snapped her out of her thoughts about YENT though and Cassie glanced over at her horse for a moment, "Oh, um, well, he's good at Cross Country...anything really outside of the ring."
It was a little embarrassing the more that Cassie thought about it, how her little brumby would jump to his hearts content out on the cross country course, the moment they hit the ring, he was a different horse. She tried to shove out her try-out, where he managed to only clear two out of eight jumps without any problems, and that was only from a serve urging from his rider. While only two rails were knocked down as well, Cassie knew full well that Starlight barely picked up his feet, and if he had been any more lazier, they would have had more rails down. But Cassie didn't want to trouble her thoughts on Starlight, she could do that some other time, "What about you and Midnight? Oh wait, let me guess, show jumping? I hear ex-racers make wonderful jumpers."
