I held tightly onto the dark moss green leash of Storm my large black spotted grey, great dane guide dog as we headed down a uneven rocky dirt path towards the paddocks where I would dropping of Call of the wild or as he is most commonly known as Wild or even more commonly so Will. The close and slow clip clop of Will's hooves reminded me that my 16.2 hand gelding was still indeed being lead along by Storm who was holding his dark orange lead line carefully in his mouth.
I wondered what the area looked like I couldn't because of the fact that I am legally blind. I sighed and slowed to a halt as Storm nudged my leg and scrabbled at the latch the paddock gate I fumbled with the latch unable to figure it out I turned when I heard the sound of boots against rocky dirt ground as someone walked by I called out, "um.. excuse me! could you give me a hand with this?" I wondered how me, Storm and Will looked right now a strange looking boy holding the leash of grade dane wearing the banner of a seeing eye dog who was holding the lead line of a horse.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: F0FFFF; border-left: #7FFFD4 solid 15px; width: 420px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;]Now it's time to build up from the bottom of the pit, right to the top I walked into the barn, my medium length blonde-brown-red hair done into a sloppy ponytail. I felt like I hadn't ridden in forever, even though in reality it had only been three days. My black tall boots clipped neatly on the sparkling barn floor. My Tailored Sportsman Jodhpurs had been recently cleaned, and I was wearing my team jacket.
I walked outside to get my horse, Abbott. Okay, so he wasn't really mine, but I leased him so it was like he was mine. A boy stood at the gate, trying to figure out the latch. It really wasn't that hard; over, under, around, over, out. His dog was there too, which bothered me. Dogs were not allowed on barn property on the account that some horses just didn't act well around dogs. I felt anger boil up and I was about to say something when the boy opened his mouth. “Could you give me a hand with this?” He asked, without turning around. I pursed my lips, getting more and more aggravated by the second. “Sure.” I said politely. That was my problem. There were very few (if any) impolite bones in my body. I walked over to the boy and started undoing the latch, twisting and turning until it came undone. I looked up at the boy to see if I knew who it was. He was blind. Probably. And the dog was a seeing eye dog. Even though I hadn't said anything, I felt absolutely horrible. “There you go.” I said, smiling and trying to be nicer than I had just been. “Your horse is beautiful.” I said, looking him up and down. It was a really nice horse.

I carefully moved out of the girls way so she could reach the gate and gave her a warm smile before I said, "Thanks it's one of those over, under, around and out gates right? I have trouble with those I can't tell which direction of i'm moving my hands very will with these kind of gates and Thanks his names Wild but I tend to call him Will oh and this guy here is Storm he's my guide dog" I smiled again and patted Will's shoulder and pulled Storm away from the girl so he wouldn't try and sniff her he was usually very good at avoiding people unless I ignored his warnings and bumped into them.
I didn't usually bump into people but everyone once it a while Storm would get distracted and not warn me and i'd bump into the poor unsuspecting passerby or in some cases into poles, walls, benches, fences, doors and cars which was a very very rare occurrence since Storm was a highly trained seeing eye dog and was trained not to get distracted by most of the everyday distractions that came by a dog.

Storm wagged his tail happily, but stayed alert. He seemed like a great seeing eye dog. “That door was nearly the death of me when I first got here. I couldn't get it open to save my life. I tried almost everything. I actually got my hair stuck. in. the. latch. Luckily, someone came to my rescue before I reached for the chainsaw.” I joked, laughing at myself.

I let out a small chuckle at her joke and said, "I've actually ended up climbing a paddock fence and having my horse jump the fence it wasn't a very high one about 3'0 we'd been going up to about 4'0 so it was ok then I just took her back to the barn this was at my parents stables" I chuckled softly as I remembered riding Raven bareback over my parents white 3'0 paddock fence it was a fond memory since had been my first time jumping bareback. i'd fallen off once on the other side of the fence but while going over I felt as I was flying.

I didn't even jump that high, and I could see. I cursed myself for sounding like such a jerk, even though it was in my head. “That sounds scary! I could never do that.” I admitted. I wondered how he knew where to go. How he could jump that high if he couldn't see where he was going? I was intrigued.

I gave her a small smile as I said, "I fell off once we landed but it was amazing I felt like I was flying I just hung onto Wild's mane for dear life as went over and... I usually jump with Storm we've got a special halter then allows me to attach a double clipped lunge line that is attached to an extendable leash and we jump together me on Wild and him going ahead of us he'll bark to let me know to get ready it's quite fun but we crash a few times if Storm doesn't bark in time or he gets distracted by something" I patted Storm on his head and smiled

It was interesting and pretty cool. His horse and dog seemed pretty amazing. I wondered what it was like to not be able to see anything, but still have such an intense trust for the animals that basically made his life possible. It was really neat. “That's really cool! I would love to watch you ride sometime.” I said honestly, smiling. “How long have you been riding?”
