I walked into the stables my sleek black boots clicking on the grey dusted cobble floors of the black and white stables of Canterwood Crest. I brushed a stray piece of strawberry blonde hair out of my face and walked to Whispering Willows or Willow my 6 year old black arabian's stall and picked up my brand new sky blue tack box and rested it near the wall by a pair of cross ties. I needed to groom Willow so she looked her best today. I hoped she was too dirty from two nights out in the paddock she'd been turned in early last night with a few other horses.
I went back to Willow's stall and unclipped her lead line of a hook on the wall and unlatched thick black latch on her stall door and went inside. I headed straight for Willow who was drinking out of her pink Water bucket when was on the left hand side of her stall her red hay net was on the right side. I patted Willow's neck and hugged her before saying, "Hey there pretty ready to be groomed?" I hooked up the lead line onto her halter and lead her out I was careful to keep my feet away from hers. I did not want to be stepped on right now she could step really hard when she was eager to get going.
I clipped her up to the Cross ties and unclipped her lead line I rested it to the side well out of everyone's way and pulled out my custom made red hoof pick with Willow's name engraved in it and lifted her first hoof I sighed as I saw how much dirt and mud was in her hooves 10 minutes later her hooves we picked and brushed clean and I was ready to start grooming her with a curry comb. I put her Hoof pick back and collected her red Curry comb with her name engraved in it and started doing nice large circles around her body starting from the neck down.
Once I was done both side of her neck I grabbed the hard brush and did short hard flicks along her entire body except for her face and legs of course. I used the soft brush next I ran it over her body including her legs and put it back when done and grabbed her face brush after I dusted her face and ears off I combed her mane and tail and sprayed it with some mane n' tail spray to make it smell nice. I looked up to see someone walking down the aisle I was quite surprised I didn't think anyone else would be up at 5;30 in the morning on a sunday.
