I swear, I never meant to let it die I just don't care about you anymore It's not fair when you say that I didn't tryI just don't care about you anymore Hatred. The only real feeling Chase felt anymore. It was as if at the age of 10 he lost all of his emotions and feelings. He almost became a robot, not being able to feel anything. And now at the point when even if he wanted those feelings back, it would be too late for Chase. His last chance had already come and gone. I feel numb I can't come to life I feel like I'm frozen in time the lyrics from the song 'World So Cold' came to Chase out of nowhere. This was how Chase felt here at this school. He was not some person who belonged at Canterwood. He didn't want to become part of team, not part of any of this teenage drama. It might seem cruel to say but Chase was getting tired of all this crap. All these people needed to grow up. It was 10:36pm and Chase was out past curfew. It seemed the only time he got to himself. The only time he was alone on campus and able to do whatever he wanted without getting yelled at. He minded other people's business why couldn't they stay away from him and mind their own? Chase sighed. He had been walking around campus not knowing where to go when he came upon the pool. It was locked up, Chase noted after further inspection. Chase looked down at his soccer shorts. They would be easy to swim in. He also noted. With a smirk on his face he vaulted over the fence and stripped off his shirt. Chase set his valuables in the toes of his shoes and set them under a lounge chair. Chase hadn't dipped a toe into a pool since he was 11 years old. At that point he had been taking swimming lessons and his coach had told him that he could potentially make it into the Olympics. He had brushed that comment off with a sarcastic comment and the next lesson instead of being in the pool he had been roaming the streets of some god awful town. Chase took a step towards the pool before lowering himself into the deeper end. He wasn't about to jump in and make a big splash waking everyone up. He wasn't that stupid. Chase sunk beneath the water and popped up in the darkness. Because Chase had left the pool lights off, the water was an eery black color. When Chase had first slipped into the pool it felt as if everything in his mind just washed away. He hadn't been in a pool in so long he forgot how the water felt lapping up against him. Chase smiled pushing off against the side. No one would disturb him at this time of night. Maybe if he was caught this would be his golden ticket home. That was if he got caught. www.youtube.com/watch?v=fGxcvkiTRe8

Violet did not want to go back into her dorm. At all. After her encounter with Dane, she had been leaning up against a tree, watching the sunset. As the bugs came out, She reluctantly got up and headed across campus, looking for a tree to camp out in or something. She spotted the pool, and thought what the heck. Easily climbing the wall, she landed softly on the other side, and noticed someone else was there.

I swear, I never meant to let it die I just don't care about you anymore It's not fair when you say that I didn't tryI just don't care about you anymore Chase had been soaking in his thoughts for the past few minutes as he began his front crawl. He had done a few laps before he noticed someone jump the gate just like he did and landed a few feet from the edge of the pool. Chase pretended not to see her because he really didn't want her here. Maybe if he didn't stop for her maybe she would leave. Chase kept going waiting for her to leave. Everytime Chase came up for a breath he looked to see if she was still there. Everytime she stood in the same position. Chase kept up his swimming. Finally Chase had to stop. It had been 15 minutes of straight swimming. Maybe if he had kept up the daily swimming he would of been fine with that but seeing as though he hadn't been in a pool for so long his arms were burning. He looked up at the girl. "Can I help you?" He said before thinking. That was a natural defense for Chase. Suddenly it dawned on him. He knew her. "Wait, Don't I know you from somewhere?" He said confused. He had barely met anyone here and you would think he would remember who they were but for some reason he had no lcue who she was but he had a feeling that they had met or sort of met...

Crap. I thought, as he replied with a typical chase retort. "Yeah. I'm the girl who kicked your butt at riding." I said coldly. "And this isn't your pool. I'm pretty sure I can join if I want to." I said, crossing my arms.

I swear, I never meant to let it die I just don't care about you anymore It's not fair when you say that I didn't tryI just don't care about you anymore "Yeah. I'm the girl who kicked your butt at riding." Chase realized who she was now, But still shrugged off her comment. "Do you really think you 'kicked my butt' on that mediocre course that had been set up?" He smirked. "In your dreams." He crossed his arms and stared at her. "And this isn't your pool. I'm pretty sure I can join if I want to." He just glared at her before a smirk came upon his face. "You know, my horse might not bite but I do so I advise you to stay the heck away from me." With that Chase sunk under the water and resumed his swimming. Chase wanted nothing to do with any of these girls here at this school because they would just drag him into all their teenage drama and that was the last thing Chase wanted. If it meant he had to be a total jerk to them, then so be it. It wasn't as if she wasn't returning the favor. She seemed to have it out for Chase. He didn't know why but he didn't really care. Chase sunk under the water not swimming at all. He didn't want to go back to swimming because his arms still ached a bit but he wasn't about to stay above water and have to talk to Girl 1. He still didn't know her name. Maybe Chase should be nice. He sighed under water coming up above water. He took a breath before walking towards her. "Chase" He said putting out his hand. He didn't know if she would take it or not but it was worth a try.

Taken by surprise, I shake his hand "Violet." I say, looking at him.

I swear, I never meant to let it die I just don't care about you anymore It's not fair when you say that I didn't tryI just don't care about you anymore "Violet" He repeated her name. Chase saluted her before he took his hand away from her grasp before this could go any farther. Violet looked as if she had just gone through one of those big hurricanes that people gave human names. "You look like crap." He came right out and said that. Before she could say anything, Chase put his hand up to stop her "Don't make a sarcastic comment because it won't do you any good and I can see right through every fascade you can put up. Oh, and don't bother explaining to me why you look like crap because frankly, I don't give a crap about you." He smirked and leaned back floating across the deep end like he owned the place. Chase really meant what he said when he said he didn't care about her. The only reason he had put up with coming to this school was because of himself and his riding. This school had a good riding facility and Chase was going to take advantage of it. Even though techniqually he wasn't on a riding team he was still going to go to his own shows on a different, better circuit than the little crappy school level shows. Those were a joke to Chase. In fact, Chase's first show was next weekend. It was a town over and Chase had found someone to trailor his horse and himself over without noticing from the school. His plan was flawless. Chase opened his eyes and noticed that Violet hadn't moved. "Are you just going to stand there like a creep or actually going to come in? You know anyone can come into the pool because like you said, it isn't my pool." He said. It was kind of making Chase feel uneasy, her just standing there like she didn't want to get any closer to him almost as if he had some sort of highly contagious disease. He smirked and hearing his phone chime, he got out dripping wet and opened his new message. He winced at the name who popped up. He quickly read the message before closing his phone and lightly tossing it into the pool. He watched it sink to the bottom before shaking his hand through his hair. He took out his Ipod and sat back against the wall. He glanced up at Violet who still hadn't gotten into the pool yet. "The pool's all yours." He said frostily. Chase wasn't about to leave just yet but he wasn't going to get back in the pool. If Violet had a problem then she would have to suck it up and deal with it.

After he did all of that, I just laughed. "You think your untouchable, that just because you some from a screwed up past you have the right to build a wall around yourself." I say, crossing my arms. "Keep doing that, because when you let your walls down, it hurts." I say, my tone biting. I walk to the edge of the pool to do what i came for. I ripped off a necklace, with a gold heart at the end, and quietly let it sink to the bottom. After I see it land and chip, I smile. The walls go back up, I thought. I could almost feel it, repairing the walls I had and adding a nice layer of mortar.

I swear, I never meant to let it die I just don't care about you anymore It's not fair when you say that I didn't tryI just don't care about you anymore "And you're telling me this why?" He looked up from his Ipod. "Maybe my walls aren't meant to come down. Maybe I built them so strong that they won't knock down even wit the help of a bulldozer." He watched as she threw her necklace into the pool. "You know, it's not nice to throw away your possesions. Maybe who ever got that for you spent his whole week's allowance on that and you are just throwing it away." Chase said frostily. He watched as it landed on the pool bottom and chip. He looked up to see Violet smile. Chase tore off his earbuds and dived into the pool , retrieved his phone and left her necklace at the bottom. He opened the back of his phone to see the battery covered in water. He smiled in success. Score He then got up and chucked it into the nearest waste bucket. Now no one could get a hold of him and he was determined to keep it that way. Chase picked up his Ipod and settled back against the wall. He kept his eyes open this time and just looked at Violet. He couldn't get a read on this girl anymore. It had seemed she rebuilt her walls stronger. Chase nodded in approval. Not to shabby. He thought to himself. Not to shabby indeed.

I laugh coldy. "I assure you, no ones gonna be missing it." I say, sitting on a bench, pulling my knotted hair into a messy bun. I saw my face in the reflection of the pool water, my eyes expressionless. "There will be something that will break them. I can promise you that." I said, studying my bracelet.

I swear, I never meant to let it die I just don't care about you anymore It's not fair when you say that I didn't tryI just don't care about you anymore "I assure you, no ones gonna be missing it." Chase just shrugged. She seemed clear that she didn't want that bracelet and Chase wasn't going to push the subject. He fiddled around with his Ipod for a minute or two of complete silence. When Chase made mention of his walls not coming down she came back with "There will be something that will break them. I can promise you that." He just looked at her with a disbelieving look. "My walls are not coming down. End of conversation." With that he took out his earbuds once again and sunk back into the pool. He swam a few laps before he started to get annoyed. It seemed that her telling him that his walls were going to come down, had rattled him. Chase tried to swim it off. But with much dismay he couldn't. Abruptly, he stopped in the shallow end. He turned to face Violet. "Are you just going to stand there or you going to do something? If all you came to do was throw your pathetic necklace into the pool then task complete. You can leave." He glared at her with his hands crossed across his chest. He was trying to scare her away from him. Just to be sure that she wouldn't be the bulldozer to knock his walls down.

I just looked at him, my green eyes sad. "I see right through you. I can tell your rattled." I stood up, and moved closer to him. "Something will break you. Walls aren't enough anymore." I turned away from him and walked to the end of the pool, I took a breath, and jumped into the pool.

I swear, I never meant to let it die I just don't care about you anymore It's not fair when you say that I didn't tryI just don't care about you anymore "I see right through you. I can tell your rattled." Chase didn't answer. This was an argument better left alone. She came closer to Chase and he went rigid. "I see right through you. I can tell your rattled." He looked her in the eyes before retorting. " Who do you think you are telling me what's going to happen in my life. You probably came from a rich family where daddy will buy you anything and everything you want. You probably have a whole bedroom of toys and gadgets that you hardly play with. And you're telling me this like you've had the hard knock life. Shall we all come together to sing now? I'll take the first line." He said. You could tell by the lack of smirk and straight face that Chase was mad. Violet turned away from him and jumped into the pool. A nagging thought in the back of Chase's mind kept saying to him You're gunna get caughttt He ignored it while he watched Violet swim. He himself was still dripping wet when he noticed a small beam of light bobbing towards them. "crap." He whispered. He jogged grabbing his Ipod then going closer to the edge of the pool, pointing at the light before setting off towards the fence. He was walking away from the light trying to decide where to go. He looked back at Violet before vaulting over the fence. "Every man for himself." He said loud enough for her to hear. With that he changed course, and picked up a sprint headed towards the barn only running in the complete darkness.
