"Okay," Mr. Conner said. "Start cantering around the ring. I'm going to call out some commands and you're going to follow them. I hope that you realize that just because we're warming up it doesn't mean that you shouldn't push yourself as far as you can."
I urged Rye into a smooth canter. We were in the outdoor ring, and it was a beautiful day and I was glad to be riding outside. I had started leasing Rye just a couple weeks ago, but we had a bonding and I loved every minute that I spent on his back. I lead him forward, making sure that his pace was even.
"Sit deeper in the saddle and put more weight on your outside stirrup." Mr. Conner told me.
I did as he said, correcting my position. Suddenly, Rye jumped to the side, spooking away from the wall. He spun around, and I fell off, smacking my leg on the side of the wall. Tears pricked into the corners of my eyes. I saw Rye cantering in a 360 before grinding to a halt.
I didn't even see Mr. Conner come over, but he was there by my side in a second.
"Are you okay?" He asked me, kneeling down next to me.
"I think so. My shoulder hurts." I said, flexing my arms and legs, all the way down to my toes to check if anything else hurt.
"What happened?" Someone asked from next to Mr. Conner.

I was practicing in the arena when I noticed Kate fall from her horse. i was next to her and Mr. Conner in an instant. What happened???

"Rye spooked and Kate fell off." Mr. Conner explained. "Can you grab Rye?" He asked Heather.
Mr. Conner helped me up and walked me over to the bench where people could watch the lessons. I blushed with embarrassment. I shouldn't have fallen. I knew that. I felt a little dizzy, and I sat down.
"Did you hit the fence?" Mr. Conner asked me.
"I don't know. Maybe." I said softly.
"Does your shoulder still hurt?"
"A little." I told him.
"Mr. Conner!" Someone said from inside the barn. "Pumpkins leg feels warm." A girl from the barn who I had seen a couple times called for Mr. Conner's help.
"I'll be right there!" He said back. "Heather, can you stay with Kate and make sure she's okay? I'll be back in a minute." He stood up and walked towards the barn.
"Hey." I said, smiling at Heather.
