It's nearly impossible not to fall in love with the stables. The way the black mats fit perfectly around everything the soft sound of horses moving, shifting in their stalls. The way it looked perfect even though it was a mess sometimes. Amelia often found herself sitting on her trunk outside of Stereo's stall just reading. Stereo isn't Amelia's horse, but over the years of being at Canterwood she has grown closer and closer to Stereo, everyone's favorite school horse. Amelia sat in her usual spot leaning up against the wall legs crossed on her wooden truck. Today she was reading, "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" getting lost in the book and enjoying it while doing so. Amelia felt a small nudge against the back of her head. A small smile fell upon her face and a small laugh escaped her lips. "Oh Stereo, sweetie, ten more minutes, I promise and then we can go out to the fields." Amelia turned to face him his head bouncing up and down eager to get out of his stall. "look, we're just waiting on someone, we need a mate to be safe." Amelia reached in and pet his face a bit before turning back to her book.

CASSIE CAVANAUGHEverything about this school was just so daunting her, Cassie wasn't sure on what to do. After going from Navy base to Navy base, she hate to admit it but the young girl had gotten quite comfortable with that every day life style. All what she did was learn from a home school teacher and do archery, she only spent time with her father, everything had been, well, quiet. And now, here she was, at her own New England private school, and not only that, but she had a horse willed down to her by her mother. Life came at you fast some times, it also came at you in odd ways. In her day dreams, she tripped over a dip into the barn now, but managed to spare herself falling flat on her face.
The smell of horses was overwhelming, it was certainly different compared to the Navy bases. She wasn't entirely new to horses though, Cassie had managed to get a little bonding time with Starlight done before they came here. In a new environment though, when even she wasn't sure of herself, Cassie wondered if she and her horse would be back to square one. This place was completely different from his homeland in Australia. Biting her lip, she walked to the boarding side of the horses, and while it took her a moment, she finally found that golden plate that read 'Starlight'. A head poked out fast at the moment of her arrival, nearly cracking heads with her.
Thankfully, collision managed to be avoided, "Hey there Starlight..." she managed now, staring at the paint brumby. He stared back out at her before letting loose a loud whinny, his back leg coming into contact with the wall in a kick, "Um...do you want out?" He was a horse though, Cassie wasn't sure as to why she was even talking to him. A sigh escaped her, people were going to think she was a freak if they heard her. She sighed a little, wishing she wasn't so self conscious around this new place, "Here, lets get you out," she managed now and grabbed his nylon lead and clipped it before sliding the door open.
Excited at the prospect of going outside, Starlight practically jumped out of his stall and into the hallway, "Now...I wonder how we get out of here..." she mused to herself, but her horse seemed to know the way, already moving forward and Cassie moved too, simply so he wouldn't boss her about. Coming up ahead now, as they started to pass the school horses, she saw another girl in the hallway though, sitting about casually and reading, her horse glancing over her shoulder.
It was a picture perfect sight, something that Cassie always saw in fashion magazines, the girl was pretty enough to be in one. Already, Cassie felt that self awareness coming back in as she froze in the middle of the hallway with her brumby horse.
occ: hope this is good!

Amelia heard hooves of horses, she peaked up for a second just to see an unfamiliar girl and her horse walking around. Amelia went back to her book for a moment until she noticed that the sound had stopped. Without looking up Amelia said in her sweet English accent, "Can I help you, Love?" She then looked up at the girl whom was halted in front of her. She seemed to be new judging by the confused look on the girls face. Amelia folded the corner of her book and put it down next to her. She gave Stereo a small pat and then stood up. Now standing Amelia got a better look at the brunette. She was a bit taller than Amelia but looked to be around her ago. "Are you new here?" Amelia said trying to seem friendly, as her eyes drifted to the horse next to her. His coat was odd, but beautiful, he seemed eager to move, but he wasn't resisting. [/size] as far as 169 words. CASSIE CAVANAUGHShe wondered if this was how a deer felt when they saw headlights coming out of the darkness. Cassie was still frozen now, acting as if she had never seen another human before. Which of course, was a lie. She had interacted with plenty of people...while her dad had been around, "Can I help you, Love?" Her voice broke Cassie's thoughts now and nearly caused her to jump, as if awaken from a slumber. But her question was not the only thing that had startled her, it was her voice too. She wasn't American, from the sounds of it, she was English, "I...I uh...I'm just looking for the way out."
'Gosh Cassie, this isn't a maze,' she thought to herself now, actually, she was certain she could kick herself for her answer. Not that it mattered, the beautiful redhead didn't even look up at her when she asked her question. Cassie wasn't entirely sure what that meant, or maybe that was the cool thing to do. A snort escaped Starlight next to her as he shook his head, a hoof striking against the ground. He was getting tired of standing around, Cassie could tell. It was usually best to just shuffle him along, or he would end up being the one herding her. The girl was standing up now, glancing at Cassie before her gaze moved to Starlight. Her question though, nearly made her cringe.
"That...that obvious?" she asked now, managing a weak smile, "I'm Cassie...Cassie Cavanaugh, this is Starlight."
occ: No problem! Don't worry about it at all.

Amelia noticed how the girl seemed so started when she stated speaking. "I...I uh ... I'm just looking for the way out" the girl stammered along. Amelia cocked her head a bit until the girl then replied "That...that obvious?" She paused for a moment giving me a small nervous smile, "I'm Cassie...Cassie Vavanaugh, this is Starlight." Amelia nodded for a second taking in the names. "Cassie." Amelia stated out loud to herself. Amelia picked her head up and looked right at Cassie, "Well, Cassie, it wasn't too obvious, I have just never seen you before not in past years." Amelia paused for another moment before reaching for Stereo's lead rope. "I was about to take Stereo out, if you don't mind we can help guide you two out, you were heading in the right direction." Amelia gave her a simple smile and then turned to get Stereo. She slid open the door and took a step into the spacious stall. Clipping the lead rope onto Stereo's halter Amelia started out of the stall and into the corridor. "It's all the way down this hallway and then go right and then you walk a little down and turn left and the exit is right there." Amelia explained, there were other ways out, but they were already going in that direction so she thought they might as well go that way. Amelia clicked her mouth a bit and Stereo started walking forward at a lazy pace.

CASSIE CAVANAUGH Cassie wasn't sure on what to expect from this girl, she seemed quite nice, but then again, she supposed that was how school worked. Some people seemed nice but there were hidden sides, but Cassie didn't think that of this girl, even though she just met her. She was beautiful, her horse as well, they looked perfect together and she hadn't even seen them ride yet. When she repeated her name now, Cassie felt a pit in her stomach, wondering if she was going to laugh at her, after all, the redhead hadn't even looked at her yet.
"Well, Cassie, it wasn't too obvious, I have just never seen you before not in past years," the red headed girl said now. Cassie felt herself nearly breath a sigh of relief. She always got herself worked up over things that she probably shouldn't, but this was a brand new world for her, so maybe it was okay."Oh, well, um, yeah," she managed now, "This is my first year...which you already know." Wow, this was painful for her, she really had to stop babbling or this girl really would think she was crazy.
When she announced that she was going that way, the girl grabbed her paint horse now, calling him 'Stereo', "That's quite the name," Cassie mused out loud. It was really quite original, way more than 'Starlight'. The directions she gave were a little mind boggling, but if she was going the same way, then all what she really had to worry about was following her. The girl and her horse moved off at a lazy pace, and a snort escaped Starlight, tired already of this standing around. Cassie obliged him and soon, they followed after the new pair, "Oh, what's your name?" she asked now. She didn't bother asking about grade, they looked the same age, Cassie bet that she would be seeing her around a lot more.

Amelia smiled at bit at the girls rambling, "Oh, well, um, yeah, This is my first year...which you already know." and a slightly larger smile came upon her face when she heard the comment about Stereo's name. "Oh, what's your name?" Amelia had to think for a second before deciding what to say; "I'm Amelia, but I get called a mix of Amelia or Amy. I guess it's whatever anyone else prefers." Amelia reached the end of the hallway before looking back for a second, "We turn right here." she said before making the turn down another hallway, they walked down a small bit of the hallway and then Amelia spoke; "And here is the exit, you were going in the right direction, but all the exits are in awkward places." Amelia turned outside and walked into the arm afternoon air Stereo stretched his neck out a bit taking in the nice weather. A small laugh escaped Amelia's lips, she loved seeing Stereo enjoying himself. Amelia turned around to see how Cassies horse was taking to the wonderful weather.

CASSIE CAVANAUGH Seeing as she was walking behind the redhead and her paint horse, Cassie had no idea as to what kind of impression she was making on the girl. She hoped it was a good one and not something that would make her easy to write off. Honestly, she didn't know why she was trying to hard to win this girl over, she had just met her, but Cassie thought that there was something special about her, not to mention, the young girl really did not want her horse to end up being her only friend at Canterwood Crest. The long pause made her a little bit nervous, and for a moment, she wondered if she had done wrong by asking her for her name. Thankfully though, she was able to breath a sigh of relief, "I'm Amelia, but I get called a mix of Amelia or Amy. I guess its whatever anyone else prefers."
Cassie nearly made a face, and she cocked her head slightly as she stared at the back of the redhead's head now. Whatever anyone else prefers, that didn't entirely answer her question though. There were two names given, but Cassie still didn't know which one she preferred, "Well...um, which one do you prefer?" she asked now, or else she'd end up being on her own on figuring out which name to use. It was just like herself, her given name Cassandra, but she had always hated it. It reminded her of an evil witch or something, ever since she was a little girl, so she stuck with 'Cassie', never giving anybody any other choice. But with Amelia, it seemed different. There was a bit of the hallway left and she was telling Cassie more directions now, and she was making the mental notes in her head, trying to store them away for the future.
She was right though, some of these exits did seem to be in awkward places. It was like a maze, but thankfully, one that could be escaped with ease. The minute they stepped outside, a loud and shrill whinny escaped Starlight. His nostrils flared and he glanced around, his eyes eying one pasture from another and he tried to move forward a little faster. Cassie wouldn't let him though and she stopped and planted her feet. Feeling the tug on his lead, Starlight turned around, facing his owner once again. But they were in a dead lock for a moment, "We're not there yet," she managed, hoping he wouldn't embarrass her. After a moment of looking at him, Cassie started to move and Starlight quickly turned around and followed her. There was still a spark in his step, but this time, he didn't try and rush her, for the moment at least. He was still glancing around in all curiousness with the pastures. While New England was much different than the Australian Cascades, he probably still thought he was wild for a little bit when out in the pastures. Up ahead, she could see that Stereo was behaving like a gentleman, taking a relaxed stance as they walked along, "Your horse is very well behaved!"

Amelia noted Starlights excitement compared to Stereo's. She kept looking back at Cassies horse he was acting in a very adorable manner, she couldn't help think. "Well...um, which one do you prefer?" Cassie rang out with a bit on confusion in her tone. Amelia blushed a bit embarrassed about confusing Cassie, "Just call my Amy." She smiled back at Cassie, again hoping she had cleared up the confusion. "We're not there yet," Amelia heard Cassie say to her horse. Amelia looked over at her own horse and smiled as he lazily walked along bobbing his head to his footsteps. "Your horse is very well behaved!" Cassie called. "Woah." Amelia whispered to Stereo as he came to a slow stop so she could get next to Cassie. "Thanks, but he's not my horse, he belongs to the school. Anyways he's just used to everything, your horse is probably just getting used to the area." Amelia tried to brush off the fact that Stereo wasn't her horse even though he felt like it most of the time.

CASSIE CAVANAUGH "Just call me Amy!" the red head called back now as she walked along, smiling back at Cassie. The smile alone made up for Cassie's embarrassment, feeling that the smile took away from anything that might have been stupid. She returned the smile with her own shy one, "Okay, I will!" Her concentration on Amy though quickly fell as Starlight's energy bubbled up when they hit the outdoors. Thankfully though, he seemed to be able to keep it mostly contained, taking up to prancing in step but never trying to take advantage of his owner, and Cassie was quite grateful for that. Up ahead of her, Stereo was as calm and collected as ever, he didn't even seem to be feeding off of Starlight at all.The pair ahead of Cassie came to a slow stop as she and Starlight caught up with them, and once again, Amy and Stereo started walking along besides them.
Starlight's hazel eyes were watching the other paint horse next to him, but Cassie made sure that he didn't try to touch noses or annoy Stereo. That was the last thing that she needed. Soon, Amy started to explain Stereo's story and it was quite surprising. Considering the bond that she thought the redhead had with the paint, Cassie would have bet money on it that they were together as a pair and not a school horse and student, "Really? Oh, I thought-nevermind," she managed, figuring that she shouldn't share her thoughts on this. After all, Amy didn't need any reminding that he wasn't her's. She did smile however at her answer to Starlight, "Yeah, you're probably right. He's not even from the United States, so this whole thing really is new for him."
Occ; Wow, I'm sorry that took forever!
