I walked into the stable. Boy, did I love this place. The lights were dim but not too dark, the feeling was warm, yet not hot. The scent was sweet, yet not tangy. I loved how the air always smelled like fresh hay and horses, and how I could always hear whinnies wherever I went. I loved looking out at the field and seeing miles and miles of lush green grass, hay bales, and best of all, gorgeous horses of all sorts. I loved the sound of my boots tapping the floor, the feeling of my hand on Midnight’s stall latch and my hand on his soft, black fur. I gave my gorgeous Thoroughbred gelding a huge hug, and he returned it. I hadn’t gotten to spend much time with him since I’d gotten to Canterwood, so I was glad with any time I could fit in. I looked at his eyes- dark, shimmery, and wide. Beautiful. I grabbed his purple grooming kit, polished and shiny, with his name, “Midnight” engraved onto the handle. I grabbed the forest green body brush and slowly ran it over his back, down his legs and across his neck. I did so until he shone, and then I grabbed the hoof pick, ran my hand down his leg- and when he lifted it up, I gently picked the rocks and dirt and shavings out of his hoof until it was spotless. This was the side of Sammie people never saw. The not-so-tough, emotional, soft side of their rebellious, bubbly queen bee. Sammie smiled warmly when Midnight bumped on the arm with his muzzle, wanting more grooming. Sammie giggled when he drooped his head. “I’ll be back, boy.” She said softly and opened the stall door. She grabbed Midnight’s brand new, shiny black saddle and lime green gel pad, plus his bright purple saddle pad. She carefully placed the three pieces on with ease, and then grabbed his gurth and attatched it to either side of the saddle. She made sure not to make it too tight until she reached the ring. Then, she carefully bridled her gelding and led him down to the ring. She was wearing grapevine breeches from Karrots and a brand new navy blue netted safety vest. Sammie placed her slim foot into the stirrup and gracefully swung herself into the comfy saddle, landing gently. This was where she was meant to be. She grinned and clicked Midnight into a warm-up walk. When the gate opened, she leaned down to make sure Midnight wouldn’t spook, then she snapped her head around to see who had entered without warning her.

Okay, so perhaps the stables here was nice, but I wouldn't be caught dead admitting that it was good as Pine Hollow. Like anything though, it was easy to find faults with it. However, there was no arguing that the stableboys were quite cute. Bored with my day and doing pointless school work, I had headed out to the stables to get a workout in for Birdy. After all, I'm sure she was as bored of this place as I was, and being cooped up in a stall all day would not help her out at all. All of this change was quite hard on her, I'm sure of that. Walking down the hall, I acted like I owned the place as I headed to my mare's stall,“Hi girl, ready to ride?” I said in greeting and she let out a friendly whicker. Birdy moved over to the window of her stall door and nuzzled my head, “Ew, Birdy, you're going to mess up my hair,” I exclaimed now, gently pushing her nose away from me as I glanced over my shoulder, “Now, let's see if I can get somebody to tack you up.” It didn't take me long before I found Mike and convinced him to tack up Birdy for me, and I just stood around, admiring him as he gentled her even when she was being girthy. After he handed me her reins, I only flashed a smile to say thank you before leading her down the hallway with my helmet in hand. As we got to the ring, I noticed a girl was already in there getting on her horse but I didn't even bother warning her that I was coming in as I swung the gate open. Birdy's ears started to flatten as she saw another horse, “Don't waste your time with them girl,” I muttered under my breath as I let the gate swing close with a loud sound and lead her over towards one of the mounting blocks. Setting her up besides it, I quickly got on and automatically, my body fell into it's usual rider's stance. I glanced over at the girl now, eyeing her for a moment before asking, “Mind if I ride with you?” although, really, it's not like she had much of a choice because I wasn't about to take no for an answer.

I raised an eyebrow and smirked, but Midnight was fussing. He sidestepped and tried to rear up. I didn’t panick- I stayed calm and tried to settle him. When he was back down on the ground, as calm as he could be, I looked at the girl. “Your horse could’ve gotten hurt- Midnight is an ex racehorse and he has hurt other horses before after getting spooked.” She said coldly. She glared at the girl, who seemed to think she was better than all this canterwood “junk”.

The other girl's horse was fussing now, in fact, he was making quite the racket. I didn't know why she would even bother owning such a fussy horse. As he reared though, Birdy made a face and I nudged her in the side, moving her away now and put a few good between between them before swinging her around to face the pair again. He looked calm now, but I didn't trust crazy horses. When she told me off, I only rolled my eyes and smiled, “Ex Racehorse? Wow, was he too slow for the big leagues? And if he's hurt other horses before, then maybe you should learn better to control him.”

Sammie shook her head and snorted meanly. “That’s not the point.” She said sharply. “You opened the gate and slammed it like an idiot. It would spook almost any horse.” She said, shaking her head. “Midnight got injured so he had to stop racing. I’m sorry that your horse is too easy that you don’t even need to know how to ride.” Said the golden blond girl, smirking.

I only rolled her eyes as she snorted at me, “Well, if some horses can't handle a gate shutting then they're clearly not well bred and trained.” I replied lazily, glancing over my manicure now for a second, already bored with this conversation. But the next words that left that girl's mouth had me seeing red and my blood boiling. I glared at her now, if only looks could kill, “Excuse me? I can ride just fine and the judges on the A-Circuit think so as well. And at least Birdy isn't some broken down old nag from a race track!” The nerve of this girl, I can't believe she just insulted me like that. Please, as if she were a better rider than me. With that, I turned Birdy towards the rail in annoyance.

Sammie was amused by her lame response. Did she excpect her to take her word for it? She didn’t respond, of course, because she knew how wrong the girl was. She had really insulted Midnight and Sammie wouldn’t take it. Now, the queen bee was out for revenge. And that was never a good thing. Sammie clicked Midnight into a smooth, collected trot, her form perfect and her seat flawless. She rose perfectly to the beat of Midnight’s hooves.

The girl said nothing to me, but I could tell she looked amused by my insult. Guess I didn't hit hard enough with it, or maybe I did. Glancing over my shoulder now as Birdy walked on, the girl was putting her thoroughbred out on the rail now and picking up a collecting trot. I only rolled my eyes, it wasn't a competition if nobody was around to see me crush her into the dust, so I didn't bother wasting my time. Birdy however, was not as pleased and as the other horse approached closer now, her ears pinned back and she swung her neck out, watching closely with glowering eyes. A sigh escaped me before I called out, “Keep your horse away from mine.” It was a demand, but it was a warning as well. I honestly was not in any mood to be dealing with people who I thought beneath myself when it came to riding.

I entered Silver's stall smiling. Everything had changed Sammie and she were friends, she finally back-talked the queen bee:;Rose Bryant. I unzipped my black charcoal jacket and revealed a stunning hot riding outfit. I was wearing a red tee from PINK! and white breeches. I tacked up Silver in less then 1 minute. I led him out of her stall and stuck my Silver show boots. I hopped in the saddle. I walked her into a arena without looking. I looked in it and saw Sammie unprotected. I trotted Silver over to Sammie."Hey Sammie do you need help with something?" I glared at the girl across from her.

Sammie smirked. "I don't need help with anything." Said Sammie. She tossed her golden hair and raised an eyebrow. She clicked Midnight into a gorgeous canter and stayed steady.

I gave Sammie a glare. "So much for being friends, liar." I smirked at the other girl. I kicked Silver to trot and we went ahead of Sammie. I turned Silver around and we did it twice.

I snapped my head around. "First thing you come back, you call us friends." My face was expressionless. I knocked my heels against Silver and put her closer to Midnight. They sniffed muzzles. I knew they were friends already.

I glared my dark chocolate eyes. "Maybe, but I think I'll get someone." I grinned at her. I looked at Silver and Midnight. "Is Midnight a boy or a girl?" I tilted my head a little.
