In my days of exploring the nooks and crannies of Canterwood Crest, I had discovered the pool. It had all been rather accidental, and honestly, I never really ever had any intention of swimming while being here. Most people already thought I looked like a swamp rat, there was probably no need to add onto that. But the more I thought about it, I really didn't care. The tricky part was timing it so I could get there when nobody else was there. It was bad enough that I was clearly an outsider amongest the Barbies and Kens of this world, and class was bad enough as it is. I rather do my swimming by myself. Okay, maybe it was a lie, maybe in this weird plastic world, I actually wouldn't mind a friend. But it was hard to trust people here, they reminded me too much of all of those kids back home who picked on us gypsies and waved their class statuses above our heads. I didn't really enjoy it here either, I was out of my league and territory, and I couldn't excatly set buildings on fire here. Plus, I wanted to get back to my family, so best behavior...or not. No, probably not. Whatevers though. Point being, the pool. Walking in, the place seemed to be deserted which was fine with me. Dropping my stuff off on one of the chairs now, I glanced around one last time and doubled checked my bathing suit to make sure that I wouldn't end up flashing anybody if I had any surprises. Considering it's a once piece though, I'm not really that concerned, "Let's enjoy ourselves like the rich kids, eh Alana?" I commented to myself as I took to the deep edge and dived right on it and started to swim out. Breaking the water surface though, I gasped for breath and I had to shove my knotty blonde hair out of my face now as I heard somebody coming. Great, just great, "Hey, do you need me to leave?!" For once, being nice. Of course, the real test was whether they could understand my New Orleans accent or not.

I walked out of the guys changing room and stepped onto the pool deck's slippery wet tile floors. My red boxer swim shirts where red and I found they looked good with my tanned skin. My black sandals slapped on the wet surface as I walked across the deck to find a chair to dump my bag onto. I quickly found one as I was the only one in here. I removed my sandals and was approaching the pool when I saw a girl completely under water. She eventually came to the surface. "Hey, do you need me to leave?" She asked. "No, feel free to stay. And by the way my name is Justin, and yours is?" I asked now standing on the edge if the pool.

I eyed him from the water now, watching him for a moment. He was cute, granted, I'm pretty certain that this school only let in models. I was the exception due to my foster parents. When he told me it was fine, I swam the length of the pool now over to him, and rested my arms on the pool deck, leaving the rest of my body submerged. He was being friendly enough, but I was still on guard. If I had a reason to snap, I would have but so far in my two seconds of hello, he hadn't given me a reason yet. After a moment though,a sigh escaped me as I finally relented and gazed up at him, "If you must know, my name is Alana. So Justin, what brings you here? Burning off calories?"

" Well, I decided to come here because I love to swim." And with that i jumped in the pool. Not in a dive or anything fancy just a canon ball. As i hit the surface of the water my whole body plunged in. i touched the bottom and came back up.

Well, somebody was being honest, "Alright," I said now, maybe I should say something else, but before I got a chance, he was doing a cannon ball right into the pool. The water flew up, and I through my arm up to block water from my face as it hit me. Lovely. Still, I guess I can't really complain, I was already wet, "Just to warn you," I started now as I pushed off the wall and started to swim again, "I kinda mad some of those clique girls, not really sure if you want to be seen with me. Swimming or not."

I shook the water from my hair like a dog. "I'm not really friends with a those girls. Well ok maybe some of them." I said tossing her a teasing grin. I swam over to her and grabbed a floaty. I placed the dounut shaped floaty over my head so my head poked out of the hole and placed my arms over the side.

I couldn't help but to feel a little relieved when he said that he wasn't friends with them. At least I didn't have to worry about being thrown under the bus any time soon, not that I was afraid of any high school barbies. When he did say that he was friends with some of them though, my eyes narrowed for a moment until he gave me a teasing grin, and I just rolled my eyes, "Oh I see," I replied as he floated towards me. However, I just lightly pushed against his floaty, sending him away, "So why are you here? Are you part of the high and privileged?"

"Well my dad owns an oil company and my mom`s a doctor. So I guess I`m privileged. But that doesn`t change my oh so great personality!" I said grinning. "So what about you? Are you part of the high and privileged?" I asked letting my hands drag on the top of the water.

The moment he said 'oil company' and 'doctor' for parents, I was about ready to tune him out but he managed to keep my attention when he made a crack about his personality. Try as hard to not, I actually smiled and laughed, but I still rolled my eyes, "Clearly. You're a charmer," I replied. His question surprised me, was he really asking that? Did I really scream that I come from wealth? Well, I was here, "God no," I replied now, "My parents are gypsies, been that way in my family for a long time. I'm only here cause of an incident back home in New Orleans...therefore, I'm the charity case here and they're trying to make me into a fine young lady. Which isn't happening."

"Gypsies, I don`t really know alot about them. But my sisters used to watch the T.V show 'My big Fat Gypsie Wedding' alot." I said shrugging. I wondered what it would be like to be a gypsie. Fun or not? I floated around the pool but kept my eyes on Alana. "So your mission, sorry your parents mission, is to make you a fine young lady? Well I`m sure you can learn something from all these girls around here. They must of had lessons or something!" I said slightly smiling, sometimes I just cracked myself up. Wait, did they even have those kinds of classe? I streched my legs underwater and awaited a respons from Alana. tags ♥ At the pool with Alana outfit ♥ red swim shorts credits ♥ r o s e if you remove she will hunt you down and chop off your pinky toe. so don't remove her credits.

I only stared at him for a moment, uncertain of what to make of such a tv show, "I've never heard of such a show," I replied back, eyeing him. It probably was real, and probably that so called 'reality' tv. But it was just a bunch of sell outs making money. At his next statement, I just rolled my eyes, "My foster parents, believe me, if my real parents saw me here, they would probably be laughing their heads off. They'd never send me to a school like this," after all, who wants to pay for a high school education, "And I'll be dead before I ask for any 'fine young lady' tips from any of these debutante girls." What? It was true, never would I stoop to such a level, it just isn't me. I rather be out partying and getting drunk than act all proper and snooty, "What about you, Justin?" I asked with a devilish grin, "Are you a fine young gentleman yourself? Or do you have a wild side?"

I thought for a moment about her question. The answer was yes and no. At home I was expected to be a gentlemen, but I also loved to party. I would never tell anyone that though, knowing my dad he'll find out some how and bring me back home. I didn't want to go home at all. Here at Canterwood I actually had some freedom. I didn't have to wear certain clothes for a certain time or act like I liked my mom's stuck up friends. "Well Alana, I'm a...." I waited, deciding what to tell her. "I'm a decent gentlemen." I said with all the happiness I could find within me. But a small frown still showed on my face.

Dear god, it looked as if I might have stumped him for a moment. That or Justin was taking his sweet time trying to think through the question. I merely watched him while he floated around and allowed the water to carry him. He finally started to answer, but there was a heavy pause lingering in the air, either he hadn't made up his mind yet or he was waiting for dramatic entery, either way it was working and he was keeping me interested. At his answer, I only laughed and grin but I could see the small lagging frown, "Oh really? Well Mr. Gentleman, what is ever wrong? I feel as if you have some self doubt there judging by your frown."
