Okay first off, hi guys! Sorry I have been randomly disappearing, school has been school and its been hard to catch my breath (literally, my asthma has been horrible this winter)  I feel the need to express my opinion on this, because I just really wanna express my opinion on this As much as I really do like Sammie's idea, realistically I don't think its going to work out. Wait wait woah, before I have a parade of pitchforks and flaming torches flying towards me in cyberspace, I think you should hear me out. Or read me out. Er, that just sounds awkward. Just continue to read please. Um, thanks. Canterwood Crest is a book series. There I said it. It is a book series, targeting for mostly girls between the ages 9-13 (or that is at least the age that the publisher puts when trying to sell the books). That being said, when we have 9-13 year old girls reading the books, there is no alcohol, sex, drugs, ect (though I wish Jessica Burkhart could write about on Sasha & Co's high school years and expand her horizon a bit on the writing- but i'm getting off topic). Even though those things are fun to roleplay with, you just have to keep in mind the younger generation that will be reading this stuff. The 9-13 year old girls see Canterwood just as a place were Sasha had her first kiss with Eric, not where Sasha got drunk at some party and tried to make out with a horse. That being said, as much as it kills me, if we change this site, this site where so many of us when we were 9-13 came to make our dreams about Canterwood Crest Academy a reality, if we make this site unrecognizable, physically (though I'm really for changing the skin) to what is being written. Basically, since that sentence wasn't making any sense, it wouldn't be Canterwood Crest anymore. It would just become yet another ProBoards roleplaying site about a boarding school where teens come to get drink and make out with other people's boyfriends. Believe me, there are hundreds if not thousands of those sites out there. Canterwood (as much as it hurts me to say) is not that. CCA is for the 9-13 year old girls (and guys for that matter) to begin their typing rollercoaster known as roleplaying. And like how Briar Creek was a stepping stone for Sasha Silver to get to Canterwood Crest Academy, www.canterwoodcrest.proboards.com is a stepping stone for the next generation of writers. ~Julia [/color] |

I understand what you're saying and I don't want to start a fight, but I'm not talking about keeping it as a Canterwood Crest rpg, i'm talking about changing it to just a regular, drama-filled, scandalous boarding school rpg. Because it's clear that the site isn't very active lately and it seems that if we widened the plot so that our rpers could put a bit more depth into their writing with more interesting and new subjects, then we could not only grow as a site but as writers as well.

I agree with Sammie on this one I had thought about not joining this because of how boring it looked (No offense!) but I think we should make it a little bit older because well....I'm 15 and I LOVE the Canterwood Crest series and I would love it if this site looked a bit more mature as most of the characters I want to create have pasts that hold a few more of the more mature topics like Child Abuse and such and it feels a bit awkward to have them on the site as it is now since it is aimed at younger audiences I would LOVE to have it look a bit mature so I can have those characters with not so nice pasts and such. well there's the end of my rant and may I say I just LOVE the second last skin it's beautiful!

Also since we have this new sophisticated looking chat box it doesn't go with how unsophisticated this site looks if we got a new skin to make it look more sophisticated more people might join

I love this site a lot! It was a great way to start my RPGing "career" (haha im cheesy). I'm 15 though too. Maybe we could have a link on this site to another site. Like an older version of Canterwood Crest. Instead of a more middle school theme like this it could be a high school theme. We could just have everyone from this site who's ready to "graduate" move to the other site. That was the younger people on this site would be able to continue RPGing here and the older kids can move up to the other site. What do you guys think?

Reading back on my post, I realize that I forgot to add a few key points I had forgotten about, which basically made my comment look like an anti- anything fun KEEP CANTERWOOD FOR THE KIDS kinda of person. Which I'm not. At least I don't think so. Wait I'm confusing myself so I should stop. Anyways what i trying to get across before is that (like what you guys are saying) is that we should make a new site. Like an high school version of this site here, basically in a nut shell of what you were saying above. I'm 14 and even though I know thats not a terribly old age, I have been on this site for going on two years this summer, thats absolutely nothing compared to some of the others (Amy, the frayster, good ole Kate ect). What I'm saying is that I believe in a democracy (why I'm bring politics into this I have no idea) so I believe their seniority in this site gives them a tad more priority than some of the rest of us folks. This doesn't make sense but basically I think we should wait to see what they think before we rush into anything. I'm more of an act-first-think-later person myself but I think this would allow us to have a better image of what we looking at, rather than rushing into one new site after another. A prime example of this is an old Camp Half Blood site, the frey, rose, grace, the girl who played Julia Myers and I used to be on. Dang that was a fine site. But like all sites, it went through a time when it was completely inactive. We all tried to make it work again but it didn't, naturally. Because of that, we opened tons of different CHB sites, as you can guess, despite all of the effort, didn't work. So i don't know. Maybe this will work, maybe it doesn't. But if it does end up working, I officially announcing right now that on the new site, I will not be Carmela Vigil. Or maybe I will- haven't quite decided yet. Carmela is by-far the longest I ever played a character and she belongs with the kid CCA. So basically i don't know where I came with this post. That happens a lot, in case you haven't figured that out yet:p ~Julia |
